This special event, hosted by the Holy Cross Third Order, invites Catholics to rediscover the beauty and truth of the Latin Mass and its vital role in renewing the Church today. Join us at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lavington, for an afternoon of clarity and conviction. Admission is free.
A Call to Rediscover Catholic Tradition
In a world where confusion often overshadows truth, the Traditional Latin Mass stands as a timeless anchor of faith, uniting Catholics with the Church of all ages. Michael Matt, a renowned advocate for Catholic Tradition, will explore why the Latin Mass is central to restoring all things in Christ and how it strengthens us in the spiritual challenges of our time. This talk is not merely an explanation of liturgy but a call to embrace the unchanging teachings of the Church with courage and hope. Whether you are familiar with the Latin Mass or curious to learn more, this event will deepen your love for the Faith.
Michael Matt’s First Visit to Kenya and Previous Work in Tanzania
This event marks Michael Matt’s first visit to Kenya, a significant moment for Kenyan Catholics eager to engage with a leading voice for Tradition. In January, Mr. Matt was interviewed by our very own parishioner Esther Kamau on her Catholic Esther YouTube channel.
The interview explored the history and significance of the Latin Mass, including its codification at the Council of Trent and its role in fostering devotion to the Real Presence. Mr. Matt noted, “It’s not a matter of preference; the Latin Mass was codified in the 1500s at Trent, and reached a point of liturgical perfection that has been called the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven.”
Prior to this Kenyan visit, Mr. Matt traveled to Tanzania in 2024 where he undertook a remarkable campaign, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for a campaign called Climb for Christ Fundraiser which had the aim of raising funds for the traditional Catholic missions in Tanzania.
Why This Event Matters
The Latin Mass is more than a historical rite, it is a living expression of the Church’s eternal mission to sanctify souls and honour God. Michael Matt’s talk will illuminate its profound significance and inspire Catholics to cling to what the Church has always taught. In an age of change, this event offers an opportunity to be strengthened in faith, to understand the Latin Mass’s role in Catholic restoration, and to join others in devotion to Christ’s kingship. As The Remnant has proclaimed, “In an age of confusion, clarity is an act of charity.”
